Metals

Strength, conductivity and malleability in one class of material — which is why metals sit behind almost everything from infrastructure to electronics. We trade the base, precious and battery metals our producers can supply consistently.

Overview

A versatile class of material, traded on proof

Metals are a class of elements that share several distinct properties — strength, ductility, thermal and electrical conductivity, malleability — making them essential across industry and everyday life. That combination is what makes them indispensable in applications ranging from infrastructure development to technological advancement.

Metals are also where the gap between a claimed assay and an actual assay costs the most money. Our desk works only with producers and aggregators whose material we can sample and have independently analysed before it moves.

Trading terms

How metals transactions are structured

Pricing basis

Referenced to the recognised exchange or published market for the metal at the time of contract, adjusted for grade, form and treatment or refining charges where applicable.

Delivery terms

FOB at a West African load port, or CFR / CIF to your discharge port, under Incoterms® 2020. EXW is possible where you arrange your own freight.

Payment instruments

Irrevocable letter of credit at sight from a prime bank is standard. TT against documents or documentary collection can be discussed once a relationship is established.

Tolerances

Weight and assay tolerances, and the price adjustment that applies outside them, are written into the contract before shipment — not negotiated on arrival.

Assay & compliance

Verification before value changes hands

  • Independent assay by a recognised inspectorate, or a buyer‑nominated laboratory, with umpire assay provisions where the parcel warrants it.
  • Weight verification at loading, with draft survey or weighbridge tickets as appropriate to the form.
  • Responsible sourcing checks aligned to the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, with KYC on counterparties on both sides.
  • Full export documentation prepared to match your letter of credit and import requirements.

Send us the metal, form and tonnage.

We will confirm availability honestly, quote against the current market and set out the inspection terms before you commit.
